What about Bo and Leonard from the 2014 class! As far as stacked classes at the RB position, Tennessee had one in like 2000 or '01 that had Jabari Davis and 2-3 others that I cant remember. And USC had one in like 2006 with maybe four elite guys. But to have this happening for our very own Crimson Tide sure is sweet! Too bad you can only play with one football.

    Tennessee 2001 Class
    Cedric Houston
    Jabari Davis
Derrick Tinsley- from here in Marietta and played in our Flag Football League in 2008-2009. Tried to talk him into staying in shape and giving Arena Ball a look. Still was a good athlete but didn't have the same 4.3x/10.7x speed that made him an elite RB and 1 of the top high school sprinters in Georgia
Keldrick Williams- went to my high school in Montgomery (didn't know him as that was well after my time). Ran for 2,518 yards and 37 TDs in 1999 at Lanier. Williams transferred to Alabama St after 1 season at Tennessee.

That blew up in Carroll and Southern Cal's face.
In 2006 they signed C.J. Gable (5*), Stafon Johnson (5*), Moody (4*) and Kenny Ashley (4*) in their 2006 class.
The next year they signed Joe McKnight (5*), Marc Tyler (5*), and Broderick Green (4*).

None of them truly lived up to their billing in college. The group could have a good game here and there, but without the reps and rhythm needed, none of the players were able to excel or develop properly.

Just because you can sign them all, doesn't mean you should.

Agree as well. However, I also think all of the above players were vastly overrated.

There were too many individual great games among the group of Gable, Johnson, McKnight and Tyler to say they were all overrated. Misused and underutilized, imo.

Green transferred and finished up at Arkansas. He was a big back and after his knee injury, lost the speed and explosiveness.
Moody transferred to UF and washed out. He had the ability and physical tools, but no heart.
Ashley is the only one who I've never heard of.

Especially the Stafon Johnson signing...after that weightlifting accident he sued the school. Anyone know how that ended up?

Johnson was probably the best back of them all and started his Junior year and was the starter his Senior year, until the injury in late September.

    Quote from Wiki:
As a junior in 2008, Johnson led the Trojans in rushing yards with 705 yards on 138 carries and nine touchdowns.

The injury ended his 2009 season, during which he had run for a team-high five touchdowns in the Trojans' first four games.

Pretty sure the lawsuit was settled out of court.

Could you imagine the Starting RB and leading Rusher at Alabama only having 138 Carries? Ingram had 158 Carries in 2010 and he missed time that season.

I agree, without the carries it's hard for a RB to get into a rythem. Take TRich, the more carries he got, the better he got! It will be a delicate situation, especially if you have 2 feature backs, it's hard to put another guy in when one RB it's getting his rythem, and breaking off huge runs, except for breathers. Ingram and Richardson complemented eachother, but one was the feature back, and our feature back needs have around 200 carries per season. As we saw lastyear, depth can change in an instant, people get hurt, others can't handle it and transfer, and the great one always separate themselves from the rest. Drake could end up at slot, Hart is a risk to transfer, and If we sign Henry he could end up at multiple positions in addition to RB. While I agree that too many RBs splitting carries can hurt sometimes, I also know things can change fast, and the great ones will separate from the average ones. Ideally I think we need 3 man rotation with one or two RSing and getting experience to be part of the rotation the following year.

The key to me is the development. You have to be naturally gifted, clearly, but you also must develop the craft. It is clear now that none of the SC RBs were developed (a theme of the second half of the Carroll tenure at SC). Of their list of RBs, only McKnight was drafted.

Alabama has used a primary RB, a secondary RB, and a third back for injuries and garbage time. The other carries to the RB corp came in games where the outcome was determined in the 3rd Quarter.
Of course, it wasn't long ago when Aaron Johns was Alabama's only healthy choice at RB. So you have to find a balance somewhere.
