USC loses running back to a torn ACL

So how are things on the West Coast?

Not sure. I live in Hoover. Went to Oregon last summer and it was nice, but haven't been to the LA area since January 2010 when we played Texas.

Okay. Thanks. I think they'll be able to manage without him. They might be a little overrated, but they do seem to have a lot of offensive talent. Also, they play in a pretty weak conference. I won't be shocked if they make it to Miami and won't be if they don't either. I can't wait for the season to start.

Their season definitely hinges on health. If healthy, it's a one game season against Oregon (possibly twice).

Why won't they have a running game?

They averaged 163 yards per game last year. They return 4/5 of their OL and their leading rusher (1000 yds +)

Also, teams weren't very successful blitzing last year as they only gave up 8 sacks all season.

Did you forget the one lineman they are losing is going to be a top 5 pick and was their LT? Tell me who is gonna step in for this guy? Whoever it is will likely have to have TE or Gaurd help and that is gonna make their offensive line not as good as last year. And with three running backs on the team for next year, what happens when one of them pulls a hamstring and misses 2 or 3 games? Or if another has a serious injury?

So a team last year that almost lost to Utah, got beat by Arizona State, barely won again Minnesota, gave up over 35 points against Stanford and Oregon basically has only one game to worry about this year?? You act like the other 11 regular season games are gonna be a breeze and no contest games. You are in for a rude awakening my friend

This guy has a good point. There is zero chance a team replacing its LT can win a NC.

    Roll Tide!!!

    No kidding!! Lol

    Beastman. Questions for you.

What did we accomplish after losing LT and first round draft pick, Andre Smith?

What did we do the year after losing LT and first round draft pick, James Carpenter?

We won the national championship, I cant argue with you on that one. Now let me ask you a couple of questions.

Were we paper thin behind out 1st string starters after those 2 years?

Does USC have anywhere near as good a defense this year as we did those 2 years?

Did we rely on a LT to pass protect against the other teams best DE for 35+ plays per game in those 2 years?

Are we famous for losing 1 games to a 14+ underdog each year?

Does USC have Nick Saban for a head coach or do they have Lane Kiffin as a head coach?

They have a more than capable replacement..
You cannot rank a team on the theory people are going to be injured. They are returning a very strong team that if it lines up against anybody will compete at a top 5 level. They do have depth at certain areas and the thin areas may make it thru the year. There schedule is no harder than ours, but they do schedule a pretty good out of conference schedule.
I can see that schedule wearing them down and God forbid an injury to one of their main offensive talents.
ESPN seems to give us a lot of love and I do not see the liberal lean..What I see is Barkley and the WRs that are NFL quality and should be able to dominate the weaker PAC-10 with two real games..That makes them a top 5 team with your fingers crossed.

I just dont see what makes them a top 5 team. Last year was their peak (losing 2 first round picks and now the sanctions begin).

This top 5 team nearly lost to Syracuse, Minnesota, and Utah. Lost to Arizona State. Gave up over 40 points in a loss to Stanford.

Other than Barkley and their 2 good receivers, what more do they have? Their defense is awful. Stanford, Oregon, Utah, Notre Dame, and Washington can each potentially beat them.

Their defense has zero depth and will be worn out by the 3rd and 4th quarters.
