Unsung Players of the GAME

  • Defense
    - Geno & Hubbard
Geno played out of his mind on Saturday. He smothered UGA WRs all night. Played great against the quick WR screen to go for a 2 yard loss in the 2nd half. 2 great pass breakups and 1 for 7 when UGA threw his way. He is the missing link we have needed all season. Glad to see the light has gone off and this makes me feel much better about ND and next year.
Hubbard was like a cannon firing off the ball on almost every snap. He did great against the run and getting pressure on the QB all night. He has been solid this year, but the intensity he showed Saturday night was fun to watch. Sack in the 4th quarter was huge. Hopefully this will be a game that he can build on.

    Offense
    - Volger & K. Johnson
BV has been progressing throughout the year but I really feel that he stepped up his game and took it to another level Sat night. He did not miss many blocks I saw and he was blocking his man and scraping up to the next level on many run plays. To take on J. Jones and lock him down most of the night was very impressive. If he can add another 15 lbs in the off season and work on his route running he will be an asset for the offense next season.
Johnson has been a player that I have been critical of all season. He seemed timid at times and did not explode through his blocks when leading through the hole. He is not built like a true FB, but wow did he have some nice blocks Saturday night. He delivered the blow and then drove his man back several times. He sprung a few long runs and he seemed like a man on a mission. I really had thought the past 2 weeks of not seeing him much in the offense was due to the fact that he had not been blocking very well and thus the coaches went more to the 1 back set in no huddle. Really glad to see him have a breakout game and hopefully we will see more of him in the ND game.

    BAMAMANAGER

  • Total team effort! And all of those guys deserve being mentioned. Incredible effort by the team.

    Pride of Dixie

  • Yeah, you mentioned this a little, but imagine what all three might do next year with a good offseason. They're also going to be challenged for playing time as well.

  • CJ mosely for blocking Murray's pass

  • I was impressed with Geno. Love me some Vinnie ,but have #24 in coverage probably saved the game.

Back in the day, I ran a 3.9 in the 20

    TJ Hooker

  • Steen. Never gets the publicity that his teammates on the line get. Thought he was awesome, along with Fluker.

  • I noticed that most all of the guys from the state of Georgia played well. Xzavier Dickson had two sacks along with the aforementioned players form the state like Vogler, Hubbard and Smith. Warmack is another Georgia native who obviously came to play. Just shows how important those '08 and '09 games in Atlanta have been to our recruiting success there. Was M. Adams watching?
