  • FYI, after watching it again, not only did LSU play a heck of a game, but I'm convinced that's by far the best the Tigers have played all season.

I also think that coming off the bye week was a big advantage for them.

So Chris, are you saying LSU played their best game and Bama probably played their worse game of the year and Bama still won? Would you chalk that up to talent, coaching, etc.?

I don't think Alabama played their worse game. I give LSU's defense some credit. They caused some problems for us I what they did. We didn't play well and left at least 14 points on the field. Our defense was out of position on several throws and our tackling was inadequate a few times. Overall, when you play a team like Lsu it's hard to judge exactly how you played. I do know that Oregon, KSU or Notre Dane would have walked out of that stadium with a loss. We played like a machine when it mattered and as much as our defense missed assignments, it didn't miss many In the redzone.

Don't know why that bye week of xtra prep hasn't been mentioned more. That was huge for LSU who put in a great game plan. It's obvious they have some pretty smart coaches on staff. I also believe some people forgot how good they were after that UF loss.

If Mettenberger had thrown the ball like that against Florida, they wouldn't have lost that one.

I agree. I'm curious to see if that is a one time deal with him. I don't know if it's clicking for him or if he just had one of those nights like Garcia did against UA a few years ago.

  • Job well done Chris...

I also believe that coming off a bye week was the determining factor. Plus they had the perfect storm.

Revenge not for the loss,,,, but for the humiliating loss in the NC.
Highly motivated... Hey its Bama and we are now arch rivals.
    Tiger Stadium.
    Tiger Stadium at Night.
Bama is No. 1., LSU's only chance to get back to NC is to beat Bama.

Setting up for the upset... but Didnt happen.

I am happy that next year both BAMA and LSwho will have open weeks before they meet in Tuscaloosa. Rewatching the game, I was proud that the TIDE D hung in there for the fourth quarter like they did. As long as they were on the field because our O couldn't stay on it, I was impressed that the last three LSwho drives ended in a 4th down stop, a missed 45 yard FG, and end of regulation time stop with a sack and tackles for short gains. They could have easily folded in the end due to sheer exhaustion but they never gave up and did not allow LSwho to just run the ball in the end zone. Looking forward to making the necessary adjustments on both O and D this week in order to beat a good A&M team. RTR

  • I think the game Metternberger had was more like Garcia's of USC. Incredible games that they never equaled. What is amazing is that Bama had coverage on every single one of their plays and they made the catches, and the passes were pinpoint. LSU's only drop came on a deep pass that our DB fell down on. Belue got throw at alot but the receivers and qb just made great plays, and he was in good position on all the throws.

As for the game, our OLINE dominated, but we got away from running with the ball. Also people forget that we were without Coop most of the game, and we still are missing White who was our primary deep threat. Lacy needs to get better quickly. Also I found it interesting that on LSU's last drive, that our 3-man pass rush was putting serious pressure on Mittens.

Next up TAMU, and it will be a game of contain. Look at how LSU defense played after the first qtr and you get an idea of how bama will want to play against them.

  • Best game for Mettenberger this year, he played like Garcia did a few years ago for USCe. Every pass was on target, wish that Hill (33) had came to Bama, he will be good for LSU for the next few years.

  • Thanks Chris, bye week definitely a big factor in game planning for them. Bama didn't execute very well at times and left points on the board, but gotta hand it to LSU for playing a helluva game.

  • Bye week was huge for them for all the reasons mentioned--now it's time to focus on winning Saturday in BDS and on to Bama's 15th NC! RTR!

  • When is the last time LSU played that well on offense (against a quality opponent)? I'm thinking we'll never see that kind of performance from Mettenraper again. Jmo.
