**WR Update**

  • I recently spoke with sources who told me that if the season were to start today, our top three WR's would be(in no particular order) Amari Cooper and Kenny Bell on the outside, with Christion Jones taking the Slot spot. We all know that anything can happen this summer and fall with so much young talent competing for playing time, but for now it seems as though three wide outs have done enough to earn a little bit of a lead going into the summer.

    I agree

  • Amari Cooper just like that, huh? That's pretty impressive for a frosh, bc it seems like this is a position where we have the most depth on the field.

Then again, your sources didn't name Duron Carter as a starter, so I'm not sure this info can be trusted at all.

  • not surprised. norwood and white will play a good bit but cooper just has that look a couple guys have every year that are going to jump a lot of guys older than them (deprist, moseley, milliner, etc.)

  • Thanks for the insight and very impressive that Cooper has done so well so early.

  • Respect..key word.... Whatever happens with Duron Carter.........REMEMBER....... Cris Carter was said to have had an influence on Chris Black deciding to commit..... Shortly thereafter A Cooper comes on board.... If it was based solely on Cris Carter's effort, Duron would be good to go....... Whatever happens... And it's possible Duron is on board next year..making all SEC team......if not..... out of respect.... Sometimes no comment is best..

  • Norwood not being one of the three starters surprises me. He flashes some amazing talent, but he must have a consistency issue. Other wise you'd think he's be all american with the plays that he makes.

  • I think we're going to see a rotation of
Outside - Norwood, Bell, Cooper, Eddie Williams
    Slot - Jones and White

Amen, bro. The world needs a little more respect.

  • That is interesting, especially considering the performance Norwood had in the NC game. I will say that after watching Cooper's highlight videos last fall, I was very high on the kid. He has excellent speed, but what really wowed me was his moves off the line of scrimmage. His cutting ability took some of those DBs out of their cleats. I hope he really gets in a groove this season.

As for Chris Jones....dang, the guy is a player. He seems to play with the type of confidence you see from upperclassman. I expect to see him make some Sportscenter highlight reels this year. As for Bell, he just blows by people and will be, IMO, our #1 deep threat. Hopefully White and Norwood will be big contributors, as well. Like someone else mentioned above, Eddie Williams might have a lot to say about the receiver rotation once he gets here.

  • Norwood has always apparently had consistency issues. His game in New Orleans was totally out of the blue.

  • Like a few people have said Norwood just isn't consistent enough. He just needs to dedicate himself to being more consistent and concentrate every play. He and AJ have a good connection though but, it's sometimes hit or miss. The thing about Cooper and Jones...aside from the fact they are really talented. They are hungry as hell and want the ball. Right now with all the talent thats amassing in T-town you had better come in hungry and check your ego at the door. We have got several guys who have done just that. They are also willing to put in the time when the coaches eyes aren't on them to contribute. This WR corp is going to put up some #s.

Tider N Fl called Amari being a starter and contributing immediately. By watching his route running and ability to get away from Db's I can say that there is no argument from me. Kid has a good head and can pretty much run any route.

  • Mental toughness/positive attitude will result in more playing time/consistency when physical abilities are comparable.

  • Let's keep norwoods performance in the NCG in perspective. It was ONE good game, luckily in the game that mattered most. It is quite apparent that he has consistency issues. His limited action leading up to the game, combined with the information here, would seem to confirm this.

We will most likely see 5-7 WR get major playing time this year. In years past, the distance between the top three WR and the rest of the corp has been a large one. What we are seeing now is an evening of talent throughout the position that will allow the staff to use multiple receivers in multiple formations to really create mismatches. The lack of depth at the HB position will also probably force the offense to use more three and four WR sets next year.

Kevin needs to get healthy and stay healthy. That is the only thing that has held him back, not his consistency on the field when he's physically ready to go. He's had nagging, painful injuries from basically the moment he stepped foot on campus.

I just cannot see this sentiment on the field. Norwood has bailed AJ and the team out in more games than just the NC game. He had amazing catches many times when they finally played him. People always bring up his practice effort and consistency, but he has produced in many outings. He may have a work ethic problem, but I don't think anyone can diss his efforts at gametime.
