Watched a lot of football yesterday and

  • am starting to form an opinion about some teams.

LSU - not near as good as I thought they would be - offensive line was not impressive (I think they have had some injury problems there) - their running backs are not near as good as ours - our receivers are better - QB was not impressive with little mobility

Georgia - they are getting tougher on D and look good - young running backs are good and Murray a heady QB - J. Jones probably best defensive player in the college game - I think we play them in Atlanta

Florida - really improving and much better than I thought they would be - look for them to challenge in the west - would not be shocked to see them win the east

USCe - good team, but i think UGA and probably UF beats them - Shaw is a pretty good QB, but not sure he can hold up for the full season

Need to see a little more of MSU, UT and A&M against decent opponents to judge

KY, ARK, Vandy terrible - Ole Miss, Missouri, Auburn poor

Overall, SEC is top heavy with 3 or 4 really good teams, but below that probably weaker than normal

Overrated big time nationally - USC, Oklahoma

Clemson folded (again) when it counted - FSU is good, but still not worried about them

  • I think the verdict is still out on LSU, they didn't have their starting LT, and their C went out in the first series if I recall correctly, that's a huge blow I think we can all attest to i.e. Andre Smith/Utah

  • For Scar. Shaw just had the game of his life. Doubt we see him pass that well ever again

  • Biggest difference from lawho 2011 and lswho 2012 is they aren't scoring on special teams, they aren't getting scores from their defense, their defense and special teams aren't giving their offense a short field and their qb hasn't been hitting the over-the-top passes like lswho's underrated qbs did last season.

They weren't a good offensive team last season. Go back and look at the points their defense and special teams gave them.

  • If Florida wins the west then we have problems.

Yep Scott...they aren't gonna drive the field and score points on teams with a good defense. Teams that can run & control the clock will pound them. At the moment South Carolina, UF, & Bama are bad matchups for them.

Great post. Agree w everything u said. Uga, fla, and so Carolina all top ten worthy. LSU not so much

  • Sorry but LSU looked like the 4th or 5th best team in the SEC. Mettenburger Is not a QB that strikes fear into me. Auburns D line really handled LSU up front and LSU WR struggled to get seperation against a secondary that has been torched this year.

Have you forgotten 2009? We barely beat Tenn. and they were no where close to being good that year...12-10 and it took 2 blocked field goals to make that happen. Were we terrible or did we just play a terrible game? Same thing here with LSU and awbarn.
