What am I missing....(draft related)

Help me out here....what am I missing with this Ryan Tannehill kid? I wouldn't have thought that he would have been a first round pick at all, and now he is being talked about as a top 10 pick? What am I missing here? Anyone?

I think the biggest thing is that Sherman is going to be coaching at Miami, and it's just assumed he'll want RT.
Personally, I'm with you. Fundamentally, how can a quarterback who was not always clearly the best quarterback on his COLLEGE team be worth a top 10 pick? I don't get it...

It happens every year. The closer to the draft we get there will be two or three kids who get "hot" for no real reason. It's usually a QB because free agency plays out and analysts realize some teams still really need a QB and will reach for one in the first round. Could be any skill player and a team that really has a need.
That, and those same analysts will get asked a MILLION times "who are some guys who might get picked high that we aren't thinking about?" and they need an answer.

Seems similar to Andy Dalton and Cam Newton climbing like crazy last year off of little college experience.
Anyone who watched Tannehill know that he looked good and has alot of talent.

He really wasn't a first rounder until Barkley and Landry Jones decided to return to school. Add on top of that that there were very few free agents QBs this year, you get teams willing to reach for a QB becuase they need someone at that position and they feel the need to show their fan base that they went out and got a QB in the top 10.

Are you saying that Dalton and Newton had little college experience or just Newton?
In terms of Tannehill, I think he's a good athlete but I think he's an extreme reach as a top 10 pick.
Jabrill Peppers...More I watch, the more I'm convinced he is the best player in the 2014 class. Barring injury, he will do special things.

It's a QB's league. With the new rookie contracts, might as well draft your QB high if you think he has any chance of being a great player.
