What is all this "DONE" stuff?

I think it's a follow on to "finish".

This was my take on it as in Finished at #1 but the D-one explanation seems more likely.

  • I'm glad I wasn't the only one confused. They can keep this new crap and I'll keep wearing my hat from '09.

I bought the hat just for my Bama room, not because I liked the wording on the hat. Because there are so many suggestions about what DONE means, I don't think it was a stupid question as some on here have stated. The ambiguity makes it clever? Not so sure about that statement. This isn't a Salvador Dali painting and the meaning is in the eye of the beholder. The people that make these hats need to slow down as well. I had to go through about 6 of them before I found one that the had the script A that was fully stuck to the hat and the DONE lettering wasn't crooked as hell or off center. Mass production and all about the $.

  • I love the hats. I said in the stadium when I saw the team put them on that I couldn't wait to buy one. I think it's original, it's cool, it's fresh. You can take it a few different ways which is cool.

Not everything has to be completely obvious like "2011 national champs". Every champion would have the same hats with only the year changed. That's boring. I like the creativity/originality a lot.

  • The majority of the 2008 class is done but I sure hope the rest of those aren't done.

  • If all of these hats were just like the 2009 hats with just the years changed, if there was no creativity or originality, people like me would be unemployed.

The season is DONE. We are number ONE of D-ONE. It's ambiguous on purpose. C'mon guys, it's not rocket science.

This. Apparently a lot of people slept through double entendre day in English class.

Well, if that's the answer, it is even dumber than I thought. Coming from Nike, I guess I can't expect much better though.

  • The DONE hat is a generic hat. If LSU won, they would have had the same hat with an LSU logo on the side.

This is just like the 09 hat. Had Texas won, they would have just sewn a Longhorn logo on the front instead of a Bama logo.

This allows Nike to make a ton of hats before the game and not have to risk discarding them because they can simily sew on logos for whatever team wins. Notice that most championship gear doesn't ship for a couple of weeks? That is because it is still be printed...unlike the cheap Nike t-shirts that you can buy right now at sporting goods stores.

I buy the Nike Locker Room Hats because it's what the team wears. Bought the '09 SEC and BCS hats and this hat. Just a thing I do. I wait until the later shipments for things like shirts.

Because a double entendre kind of needs to be a little more closely related than that. DONE = FINISHED = Division 1 Champs is so forced that it screams "we sat in our office for 5 minutes and threw the first thing we thought of on those hats". That's why it's dumb.

The MAIN double entendre is the DONE and ONE aspects, noted by the black D and white ONE. Those words are also an allusion to phrases Nike uses in other campaigns (Just Do It becomes DONE; not totally related but they have a golf ball line called Nike ONE; you get the idea). It's very generic and ambiguous on purpose so it can apply to a whole plethora of things. I'm not saying it's the best piece of literature ever written or that da Vinci would've given his left nut to design it, but it's not as bad as some of you are making it out to be. Personally, I like it over some generic "Alabama: 2011 BCS Champs" hat that we'll see in spades in a Wal-Mart within the month.

The way i took it is that at the beginning of the season they basically preached "FINISH" and now that they won the championship they are "DONE". Thats probably lame, but that is the way i thought it meant.

that was my take too and I thought it was a cool look... so I ordered one. Don't really care what it means as much as it means "damn that was one" nice win... that I'll always remember

  • The D represents our Defense. The ONE is of course because we re number one. Both teams we re known for their D. Put them together its Done as in season over, mission complete. In our case it means alot of things. Done restoring order, done cementing our place in history winning 2 out of 3. Done cementing this years defense as one of the best ever. After all the never again talk after the Aub. game last year, i think its fitting. I actually like those better than the other locker room shirt.

I think it's gay. I'm one of the anti-Walmart clothes "yuppies" you guys diss on, but I'd rather see our fans in a Walmart NC shirt than one of these "DONE" shirts.

  • If the tagline or slogan that Nike chose merits this much confusion, debate and explanation by the couple of people that understood it, then it was probably just a bad idea to begin with.

I bought the shirt that just had "DEFENSE: Winning national championships since 1925" or something to that effect. I got my mother the "14 and Counting" one. Both from Nike, and were much better than the "DONE" idea.
