Mal won't fire him. We've got at least 1 more season of this and if Grant manages an NIT bid next season he still won't get fired.

Attendance is going to be dreadful for the remainder of Grant's career. The program will become stagnant and the chances of getting a good coach will be worse each day.

I liked the hiring of Grant and still think he can get it done but there's no denying that next year will tell the tale. Veteran club, fifth year of regime, no excuse for not reaching the dance and being a factor. You're right about fan support. It's not a given when things are going pretty good. When they're not, forget about it.

I'm with you. If he can't fix the glaring issue of this team through recruiting this year and this continues through next year I would expect to see a change. You have to let the guy try to right the ship before his top recruiting class are seniors though.

if UA goes into complete free fall, perhaps that would be an option. However, this team is 6-3 in the league and if it wins out at home it will finish with 11 conference wins. He's not getting fired if that happens.

Oh I don't think Grant gets fired this year either Travis, but nobody predicted the LSU fans in mass turning against Brady that year, but they did and the LSU administration had to fire Brady even though I think the LSU adminstration still believed in Brady.

I'm just saying that if attendence fell apart its not a given Grant would survive. Now I don't think attendance will drop off that much, but who knows? This is not a fun bball product to watch even when we win.

Brady went 5-11 in the SEC the year after the Final Four trip and was off to a 1-6 start the next season when he was fired. 6-17 over a 23-game stretch in the SEC will get most guys fired. LSU finished last in the west in each of his last two seasons.

The SEC was much better that year. Put this year's Bama team in that year's SEC and we don't finish above .500 either.

To be honest Grant is lucky the SEC has been awful lately, it lets him beat up on a league full of the sisters of the poor and inflate his wining percentage.

Well the difference is that Brady could coach, he got LSU to the final 4 for crying out loud. Grant, not so much.

Look, I don't have any confidence that Mal knows what it takes to be a good basketball coach and if we did make a change in the future if Mal alone makes the decision, then yes there is no assurance that things will be better. I have stated before that we need to put together a search committee of basketball minds to find our next coach whenever the Grant era finally ends, and end it will. Not this year, but it will end within the next 2 years, of this I have no doubt.

Last year we were 35th in the nation in attendance, we currentlly paying in the top 20 nationally in $ for bball head coaching, and we are 3rd overall in SEC basketball winning percentage as a program historically. We can do a lot better than this for hiring a bball coach. Now will we in the future? Like I said, it depends on if Mal is just doing the hiring process himself or if we put together a intelligent basketball search committee.

I thought Shula was going to right our football program too, every year we were a player short, or a recruit away from a great season, but he and his jumbo package couldn't get it done....

Grant has had more than enough time, and to me we are actually worse now than lastyear, and don't seem to play as a team.
