Where will McCarron start out in the Heisman pecking order

  • to start 2013 ? I think he should be among the top three heading into the season. Obviously, Manziel will be at the top until proven otherwise and Braxton Miller will be a media darling because he plays for Ohio State but I think McCarron should be near the top considering what he's done for Alabama the past two years. What he's done in big games, played through injury, leadership show and the caliber of the skill position players we will have in 2013 should have him near the top in my opinion. Easily one of the best QBs in Alabama football history,

  • I'll add this: To state the obvious, September 14th in College Station will go a long way to determining things. That will be a huge stage for both teams and their QBs.

  • I don't think it matters and I honestly believe he won't get the respect he probably does...for AJ to have a shot at the heisman, Bama must be undefeated...he's not going to light it up statistically, but if nobody is a real standout stats wise he has a shot, but we have to be 13-0 for him to have a shot at winning.

  • If we go to College Station and we win with AJ having a big game then that should put AJ in the early drivers seat.

  • I think he'll start top 10. We'll see where he finishes

  • AJ will start in the "also receiving votes" category along with Yeldon, IMO.

Personally, I'd rather see Yeldon getting the attention based on how we play.

One thing AJ will need to do to have a chance is to put up the same TD:Int ratio to go along with a few more "big time" games when the attention is on. He also needs to spread things around so that it is not Cooper getting the "credit" for his numbers.

Other than that, I don't care and I doubt AJ has a serious chance outside of being a finalist if he has that type of season and we are undefeated.

And that's just the way I want it. Let the playmakers (Yeldon and Cooper) get the credit and let AJ just lead the team.

Remember, too many stats from AJ means close games or games in which we are behind as well.

I want boring runs by Fowler, Hart, Henry, and Drake in the 3rd and 4th, already up 20+.

  • If I had to pick which one would happen between AJ winning the Heisman or going in the Top 10 in the draft... I say it is the draft by a long shot.... even though I don't think he will go in the top 10 in the draft

I would say I'd rather have the Heisman. Draft placement says very little in the long run. He could still easily be a bust at 10 or be a top flight QB in the late 1st round. We can hang on to the Heisman for a long time and show it to 5-Star QB recruits down the line. We all know that Auburn has 3 Heisman trophy winners and two of those happened before I was born. It is just a much longer lasting source of pride. Also it would completely get rid of the stigma that Bama is only about ground and pound, and it would be nice to catch up to other schools on Heisman winners sooner than later. That is biggest part of our "tradition" resume that seems to be lacking. Of course that's gravy on top of the mountain of NC's, but it would still be nice.

Took the words out of my mouth. Him winning the Heisman would be one of the last things we could use to our advantage in recruiting that most people think Alabama can never do. Imagine how great it would be to have a Heisman winning QB here at Alabama.
