Who agrees with Harbaugh on the Pats Superbowls?

  • As a Steeler fan Im very bitter about the fact that they upset the Steelers on their first Super Bowl run.

  • I understand the beef Harbaugh has. I don't necessarily agree with him 100%, but I certainly don't completely disagree. Who's to say what may or may not have happened had the whole incident not occurred, because the Pats still have what is probably the best coach in the league, and when they were on there run, had a roster full of good players. At this point, it's gotta be water under the bridge. It happened and it's over, and in my opinion, might as well be buried. For the record I'm not a Pats fan either.

  • Don't agree. Not enough there to suggest it was a factor in anything, though it very well could have been; we don't know.

I must admit, right or wrong, I don't really get up in arms about this kind of stuff, i.e., demanding an asterisk be put on things. I don't think USC's title should have been vacated because of Reggie Bush. If they win, they win; that can't really be undone. For example, I'm more aggravated that we lost to the Barn in 2010, than concerned with whether Cam Newton should have been playing (granted, unlike the Pats, the Barn wasn't found to have "cheated," according to the NCAA...). CN certainly gave them a competitive advantage; but I wouldn't put an asterisk next the Barn's win over us. We should have won the game, end of story.

Disclosure: when it comes to "fanship," I'm only a diehard Alabama fan; though I'm a New Orleans fan, think the Pats are ok; with the NFL, I generally just follow Bama players.

  • Meh, it's a black eye for the Pats but saying the championships are tainted/asterisks, etc is a little over dramatic. Did the spying help them some? Probably, but how much theres no way to know.

They had Tom Brady and a bunch of other all-pros on their team, plus the top coaching staff. that had a lot more to do with it IMO

  • I really don't think Harbaugh was saying they had competetive advantages in either situation. I think he was just talking from a public perspective point of view.

  • Sure they may have won anyways, they have the best coach and arguably the best qb, etc. My problem is people saying it didn't matter at all. The pats have lost their last two sb's by the narrowest of margins. If they were still spying maybe they don't lose. Those others, maybe they lose an extra game or two in season and get a different seed, then everything is different. Maybe they play a different team and Brady gets injured, who knows. They may have been the best, but to pretend it made no difference is asinine.

I agree with this wording, especially after Harbaugh's clarification. The key is to not provide any critics with the ammunition. Be Bama '09, not Auburn '10.
