Here's a name many have forgotten and would have been the difference in a couple of wins while we were on probation. Micheal Meyers, he did play but I think agent activity cut his career short. Still played many years in the NFL even without playing his last season in college

I think Herschel Walker had the most potential of any player to never play for Bama...

Joe got to play a good bit one year and it was as an offensive lineman. Correct on the bat crazy though.

Billy Sexton came to Alabama in '65 as the top high school QB in the country and never played a down. Transferred to fsu (Tallahasse was hometown) and did well. Was QB coach there for years.
Jessie Causy came to Alabama a year or 2 later out of Tallahassee as well, and was regarded as the best high school athlete in the country (RB/LB). Settled in @ LB on frosh team but slide thru a large window in Bryant Hall while horse-playing and suffered severe lacerations to both arms and other parts of body. Ended his career.
Bubby Brister was a top QB signed by Bama out of LA in the late '70s to run the Wishbone but opted for professional baseball. Went on to good professional career--as QB of the Denver Broncos, via one of the LA directional schools after flopping in baseball.
Ralph Stokes was a mid-'70s high school football & track star out of Montgomery who could do it all on a football field--except block. Not a good problem to have for Coach Bryant and the wishbone offense (Ralph was a RB).
Willie McCray was a JUCO player who came to Bama in the late '70s but ran afoul and never played. Transferred to Troy St. and became a Small College All American before playing in the NFL.
