Bama lands the big kat

I haven't read through the thread, but Deon McCleod(sp?) comes to mind.
He was an outside LB from south Alabama who died in a car wreck the summer
before his freshman year. He was a tremendous pass rusher in high school and
looked dominant in the AL-MS game. He was compared by some to DT. A real
shame what happened to the young man. Could have been a great one.

If memory serves, he signed with Curry in the late 80s.

Everything I've heard about McCleod is that he went to a cannon station and was able to get beer two different times in the same night without showing his ID so after everything happened his dad tried to sue Cannon Oil for lettig him buy beer saying it caused the wreck but it sure how that turned out.

But they did get into a wreck and the car went into a lake and everyone else could get to shore except Deon.

Sad. I heard that people tried to rescue him but he was too big.

George Thortons brother or cousin that was top TE out of Lee Montgomery. Never qualified and then went JUCO to never be heard of again
