Trey Ward of Hartselle. I was younger when he played, but he was a heck of a running back. At one point he either set, or was getting close to setting the state record for rushing yards in a season.

In basketball it was Ronnie Fields. He played on the same HS team as Kevin Garnett at Farragut Academy in Chicago. He was a junior when Garnett was a senior and outplayed him almost every game. If memory serves he got into a car accident and messed up his back and couldn't play again.

In '69-'70, there was a RB at Hale County H.S. in Moundville, AL named Curtis Gray. Everyone called him the "Gray Ghost". He led the entire state of Alabama in scoring his senior year, which was his only year of organized football. Alabama placed him at a JUCO in Oklahoma and would have been one of the first African-American players at Alabama had it not been for some trouble he ran in to in his first year of JUCO. Coach Bryant told their coaches to send him home and he never played again. The Ghost would have been a star in the Wishbone offense because he was a good blocker as well but he could absolutely fly.
