The only issue I have ever had with this staff is that they will go to no-ends to recruit dirty and against us. Think of Cyrus, Brent and TJ in the last few years.. Sure they wanted those guys, but they mainly didnt want us to get them. Their staff is dirty and is willing to cheat - eventually, since they seem to never get caught, they will put together another good team if they continue to do so...

Fair enough.. but the point still remains - that staff is dirty - that program is dirty and I am not sure they can clean up this mess quickly if they play by the rules. Not with Nick next door throwing NC parties all the time!
Personally I really dont care who they get though. Watching this staff go down the way they have has been quite enjoyable!

I look at it somewhat differently. They might get another coach as bad as Chiz, but they won't get a worse one. Talent goes to Auburn to die, so at this point we really don't have to worry about them. There is at least some possibility they get a good coach, like Petrino, and we know that Chiz is always going to suck. I don't really want to change that.

I agree with this. Talent dies at Auburn right now. If you are not a Juco that staff will coach you down and diminish your ability. I really was hoping they would stay for a long time. Sure I am certain their weird, negative, "it's all fun and games" recruiting plan pisses Saban off but let's be honest; they pose absolutely zero threat to anything Saban is trying to do.
All that said, at this point I have given up hope. There is no way he survives beatings like we saw on Saturday at home. So agreed, let’s just laugh about it. It’s going to happen. I am hoping for A LOT of board fighting and a divided fanbase and a very long coaching search that ends terribly.

Ron Sanders has said a change is very likely, but not certain. However, he has said that in the event of Chizik's firing there would be two names at the top of the list, in order, (1) Jimbo Fisher & (2) Charlie Strong.
Either would be great hires and could get Auburn to 7 wins next year by winning games they should probably win anyway.
That being said, Jimbo isn't leaving FSU.
Charlie Strong is a little more interesting. Strong presently makes about $2.3 million/year at Louisville and presently has a $2 million buyout, not bad for a coach coming off back to back 7-6 seasons who has only beaten one ranked team (#24 WVU in 2011). His coaching staff's combined salary is roughly $3.5 million.
To lure Strong from Louisville, Auburn would have to drop $2 million on the buyout and probably pay him Chizik money or over, so somewhere in the neighborhood of $3.3 to $4 million and increase the other coaches' pay.
However, there are reports starting to surface that Coach Strong could get a raise to $3.5 million and his coaching staff will likely get boosts as well. Remember, Louisville wants to remain attractive in hopes the BIG 12 expands.
So, that means Auburn would likely have to shell out Urban Meyer money ($4 million or more) to lure Strong to Auburn. I think Strong would be great for them, but I don't think they have the balls to make that kind of bet.

Why is Chizik getting fired a good thing for us?
