With this new SEC/Big XII game, how long before...

...a bowl "partnership" becomes a super conference, with a select few from the ACC mixed in? A&M thought they had escaped Texas and the Big 12. Haha.

Forget "conference," I took this to be a veiled threat that our conferences would form their own -league- if the other conferences try to strong arm them into a bad agreement.

Thought that might be your point. It really seems, considering the unlikelihood of the scenario agreed to ever occurring, that this should be taken as more of a political statement than a pragmatic one. Sort of a "FYI, this is what we'll do if you screw us..." kind of thing.

Yep. With Delany trying to lay down mandates, you knew it was only a matter of time before the SEC and Big XII paired up Nascar-style and drafted one another. While one or both leagues will always be in the top 4 the message is more about their willingness to join together in telling Delany and his minions to stick it. And as college football's true power leagues, that's how it should be.

I think a lot will depend on what espn and the other tv outlets want, money talks.

4 16 team conferences making up the division. Remaining FBS teams can create their own division or fold into FCS.

No doubt and that's another area where Delany's whining will prove fruitless. If TV wants top 4 regardless of conference champs, that's what they'll get.

Will the Big 12 having a partnership with SEC this will send a message to Big Ten and Pac 12 that Conference Champions only Playoff is not an Option. As it should. Only the 4 Best Team in the Country should be in Playoff. Some years the Big Ten or Pac 12 might have 2 teams in the mix. Fair to everyone.

Definitely a nice big middle finger pointed in Delany's direction. I agree this is the first step towards super conferences at least. And sooner or later the 60 or so schools with legit football programs will form their own league, breaking from the NCAA if necessary.
Not sure if that's good or bad but it's coming.

and Herbie has RAILED against this whole "only conference champs" idea all over the place. I can't see it happening...If it does, it's the END of college football like we love...
