Would OU jump us...

  • If they beat #2Oklahoma State??
if Arkansas doesnt beat LSU then that means we wont be playing in a conference championship game. Tomorrow the top 4 teams will be in order LSU, Oklahoma state, Alabama, and OU. Beating the #2 team in the nation will look good to the voters and Alabama has G. Southern and Pitiful Auburn left w/ possibly no conference champ. game.
Could somebody please explain to me how we wont get jumped?? Their loss to Texas tech dont mean nothing now that Boise loss.

I guess OU is bound to jump us.

I think the only sure-fire way we get in the NC game is if Arkansas beats LSU and we win in Atlanta. Outside of that, its a toss up between us and OU (if they win).

  • Actually I think the top 5 will be (1) LSU (2) OSU (3) Alabama (4) OREGON (5) OU

I think Ark has to beat LSU. Everyone knows Alabama and Lsu are the two best teams but the majority of voters are going to want to see Oklahoma face Lsu. I hope i'm wrong.

You want a good reason? Here it is: Texas Tech. They beat Oklahoma, then got blown out by Iowa State, and got absolutely manslaughtered today by Okie State. That loss looks horrible for them and there is no way they will jump us because of it.

OU lost at home to a 28 point underdog.

    Incorrect.

  • I hope they don't jump us...

I hope it all plays out in our favor...a lot of different scenarios could get us in...

Let's just win out...put a beatdown on the barn...and see what happens...

  • Oklahoma got run by Texas Tech. They aren't going to be in the title game. It will be a rematch with either us or Oregon as one-loss teams before a one-loss Oklahoma gets in.

My favorite new interesting scenario involves LSU getting in the SEC championship game and losing to Georgia (Doubt it would happen, but with the game in Atlanta and Georgia improving, you never know). I'm guessing LSU would still get in the BCS title game? Or would they? Could you possibly have a BCS championship game matchup between two teams, neither of which won their conference?

    ASBamaguy

  • It could happen, but it would be because the voters dont want a rematch. I just don't see how you could make that argument for them. We are the 1B best team in the country based on our loss to LSU by 3 in overtime.

That said, Oky State needs to lose first. I think OU is better, but Oky State will be playing for a championship birth...

    VegasTide

  • The computers will not let that happen. Texas Tech is a terrible loss and yes the voters will look back that far. If we are 11-1 and OSU or LSU loses we will be in the title game, period!

    SouthernTide

  • You do realize that a one loss LSU has the tie breaker advantage over us, right? We are not going to Atlanta unless LSU looses two conference games.

  • To me the biggest concern besides the obvious OSU problem is that Oregon has one more chance to impress voters and improve strength of schedule with a championship game while we will be out sight, out of mind. Not sure how the computers will view their potential opponent, but I can see the voters rationalizing an Oregon-LSU rematch. The line of thinking will be something along the lines of: both contests would be rematches; Alabama's loss was at home; Oregon won their conference championship. Not saying I agree with it but I see it as potential out for those not wanting a non conference champion in the championship game and therefore a problem down the line.

No if Arkansas wins, it is a three tie and the tie breaker goes to BCS ranking.

No, it goes to the head to head if the teams are within 5 spots in the BCS. Lsu still gets in.

No Arkansas will move up as well and be within five spots a well. I believe they are eight currently before yesterday's action. It is more convoluted than LSU's win over us being the ending factor.

  • OU's loss to TT is the worst loss by any of the national title competitors. IMO ARK should be ranked higher than OU.

Yes it does, but the question i would ask is If Arkansas beats LSU would they be ranked ahead of LSU?

I think its a fair question as Arkansas has been playing really well and will likely jump to #6 in the BCS, so if they beat the #1 team i think they could move up in the rankings ahead of LSU. So the head to head tiebreaker would be between Bama and Arkansas.

And as far as the OP goes, no OU will not jump Bama as they will be 2 spots behind us. Oregon will jump OU and be behind us. Now if Oregon loses i still do not think OU has enough to jump because of that pathetic loss to Texas Tech.
