It is typically very good for OL/DL because they understand the use of leverage. They are usually very good with their hands, typically more explosive athletes, and in general wrestling makes you develop a nasty streak. These are the biggest things I take away from it, but others might be able to add some more.

I think piledrivers, clotheslines and whatever they call it when they drive folks' heads off the turn buckle are all important skills for linebackers.

What BG said. I went to a big wrestling HS (Ben Russell), and let me tell you those guys go through pure hell. You have to have a certain mindset to do that. They'd go a couple days w/ no food and next to no water, running around in 3 layers of sweats to make weight, then go out and kick ass while malnourished, dehydrated, and tired. The 4th quarter program will be business as usual for him.

I think for a lineman too it helps with the whole mindset of dominating the man in front of you. The sport hurts, you're trying to physically dominate the person in front if you within the circle. The importance of leverage is huge. In wrestling, especially at the heavier weights, undersea ing leverage makes you stronger than your opponent and keeps you from getting hurt. Almost every move requires you to bend at the knees and "shoot" under a person in a way that keeps him off balance and the bulk of his weight supported by your legs

Wrestlers don't tackle they do more hand fighting for control on their feet. A wrestler who tries to tackle usually is unsuccessful because the mat is not huge, and the defender usually backs up or turns to avoid being taken down. Wrestlers also know how to keep their hips under them and always keep a position of power. One of the best if not the best offensive lineman ever, John Hannah, was also a stud wrestler. Football players who also are descent at wrestling know how to manipulate the guy in front of them very well because of the importance of handfighting and angles while on their feet during a match.
