Here's his story:
The (old) Big East, which is losing its name to the Catholic 7 basketball schools, is considering opening up to social media for conference name suggestions, according to a league source.
The league would likely do this via Twitter. Start brainstorming.
The league is currently considering a list of names provided by its branding firm. ESPN reported the league's lawyers bought the domain for "America 12."
The Big East on Friday finalized its 7-12 split with the Catholic schools and will emerge as a 10-team football league for 2013-14. Navy joins the league in 2015, and Tulsa has been the in-office favorite for the 12th spot for awhile. Talks with Tulsa could re-engage now that the C-7 breakup is complete.
The Big East just finalized a television deal with ESPN that one TV source said will be worth right at $20 million per year for basketball and football from 2014-20.

Why use any name with a number in it? The entire landscape is so fluid right now, so why back yourself in a corner or potentially change it down the road. Seems pointless and problematic.
If they want to represent all teams that could be in their conference (potentially spanning coast to coast), then I say "The Great Pacific Rocky-Plains Conference starring The East Coast".
