You Run till they stop you!!!!!

  • I love our coaching staff and we won and thats the bottom line but I don't freaking understand why we didn't run more when they couldn't stop us...just look back at the Florida game. Florida ran it like 24 straight times because LSU couldn't stop them...that's exactly what we should have done, run it until they stopped us 2 plays in a row...I just don't understand. Thank God it worked out in the end. RTR

I think the staff overall was slow making adjustments in this game. It appeared that the offensive staff didn't want to abandon the pregame plan to have an aggressive passing attack similar to the national title game last year. However, Bama was gashing them with the run and if our D would have ever gotten off the field I think you would have seen a shift from passing to running. Which brings me to...

Why did the defensive staff struggle making adjustments to what LSU was doing? I get that Mett was on fire and making NFL passes. However, Saban said postgame that LSU rolled its tight ends to the sideline to put its wide receivers in the slot against Bama's safeties. I just wonder why they recognized what was going on yet still didn't, or perhaps couldn't, make defensive adjustments to help slow down the LSU passing game.

Anyway, I'm sure Saban is pleased because he has a ton of yelling material this week for both offense and defense. Got to bring the A game for A&M.

Couldn't agree more. We were yelling this at the entire second half. It was horribly frustrating.

This is as big a reason why we couldn't get off the field as anything. Calling running plays would have helped us a LOT.

Grow up. This is a football message board and it's my understanding that opinions are welcomed and encouraged. This type of "don't question Saban" crap is ridiculous. Saban is a great coach, the best in the business actually, but he doesn't walk on water.

Hmmm...do you have the defenses they were running? The looks? All the info to make an assessment that running would have been more effective...We underperformed in the passing game...but that wasnt due to bad plays, it was poor execution...I trust our coaches have a better feel of the situation at that time that you will ever have...

Yes, actually. I've watched the game several times now and I have pretty good idea of how things went. Plus, and this is a no brainer, I watched the game and watched our oline dominate the LSU defensive front nearly every time we ran the ball to the tune of a 6.6 TPX average. I also watched our QB miss open receivers and struggle through 58 1/2 minutes, and us continue to beat our heads against the wall by lining him up in the gun and throwing. The run was there whenever we wanted it and we didn't take it. Am I mad? No. Am I happy? Yes. None of that means we cannot discuss the decisions our coaching staff makes. We are fans, and some of us study the games and players more than others and have varying opinions on situations, play calls, etc. Then again, some of can read a stat sheet as well, because this one is about as obvious as it gets.

  • I've been on the 'we should have run the ball more' bandwagon, hell I usually drive that bandwagon. BUT, we also don't know what running plays got checked out of by AJ at the line of scrimmage. I had someone point this out to me today...it does appear he did a lot of changing the plays in the 2nd half....

Either way I'm glad we won and hopefully we get back to running the ball more. biggrin
