Just out of curiosity... did any of you ever drink in the summer on campus before you turned 21?

Kids make mistakes. I don't think it means he lacks character or ethics.

More than anything, it says something about the level of commitment of the barn players. Studies show that it takes WEEKS for your body to recover from just one episode of binge drinking... not what an elite competitive athlete should be doing. Education like this is why Bama employs people like nutritionist Amy Bragg.

I'm 48 and I've never even tasted alcohol, never smoked and never used drugs. I was in a fraternity at Alabama, played lacrosse there, then joined the Navy, so I obviously wasn't some sheltered mama's boy. I just never had the desire to do those things and I'm glad I didn't.

  • For me the issue isn't that he was arrested for drinking thats not a big deal IMO however what I find funny is the fact that despite all the evidence to the contrary AU fans seem to think that a few thugs on the team make the rest look bad.

I guess Shane thinks Yeldon will flip to Bama after he enrolls at Auburn. Brilliant. Sell those subscriptions, BOL.” - TIGER

    whatever.

on the micro level: if this was an isolated incident for him individually, you could make the case that it doesn't reflect on his character. but he's been a fat, walking, talking ball of trouble since he entered the spotlight. and the spotlight it key - i venture to guess that no one in this thread signed a scholarship to play the highest profile position for an sec team. like it or not, those guys are held to higher standards than regular students.

on the macro level: if this was an isolated incident for auburn's football program, you could make the case that it doesn't reflect on the type of player they recruit. but it's not - since chizik arrived, they've had a culture of drugs, alcohol and violence surrounding the program.

they suck and he sucks, and the number of times everyone in this thread has been drunk underage doesn't change either of those facts.

    Amen!

Trooper is doing the same thing at the barn he did at ut but I do think it is more wide open to what you can get away with at the barn because the head coach is a very weak leader & has no control over assistants.

He will fit right in at the barn with thug players and coaches. wonder who paid his bond?????????????

I think it's just part of the scholarship at the barn....bond fees are included.

    jebtide02

  • His parents had the money to pay his bond. They are well to do so I've heard.
