Dee fell down on the second TD.

Yep I know that as well. But he played lights out. & they had much more success when going away from him. Try & mask Belue/Lester all you want. But if teams want to have success. It won't be picking on DM.

No doubt. Room for improvement, I expect we'll see it...think about where Belue was a year ago...big steps tonight and all he'll do now is get more comfortable with what he's doing. Plenty of opportunity to watch film and improve.

I agree. Safeties were late over the top on a couple of the deep balls. This is going to be unpopular, but Vinnie worries me in coverage.

unpopular or not, it's true. i didn't think Vinne had a good game.

IMO Perry was the problem.. Vinnie made several good plays

  • I agree 100%. But all we heard was how Belue was this & that. & UM did the dumbest thing ever & tried to exploit DM early & often. Belue has a ways to go. & his number will be getting called a lot after tonight. I have no doubt he will be up for the challenge. But he must now know it's coming. LOL simply put. DM looked like the best db Saban has had tonight. Even "slipping" down on the one td.

totally agree. I feel he is the best CB that Saban has had at Alabama to this point.

D-Line was told to maintain their lanes and not get upfield to open up lanes for Denard. I thought they did a fantastic job keeping Denard inside the pocket (which is what they've been preached to about for a month now), and of course stopping the run.

This - some people just see a lack of pressure and assume the D line isn't doing their job. The D line did their job. When D lineman try to rush the passer they try to get around the lineman and when you do that Denard is in the endzone before they figure out he is not back there.

AJ best QB in the last 40 years.......I don't remember one that could stretch the field and have the presense that he has. And Nick Perry is not an option....he is slow, doesn't react fast enough....not good closing speed. Que Landon Collins.

I was thinking the same thing about Perry. He just did not seem to know where to be.

  • *** I don't think DM will get thrown at much more after tonights game
*** D-line did exactly their job and people saying otherwise don't know what the game plan was. If they would've gotten up field, Denard woulda juked them.
*** I'm still wondering if Fulton will emerge as the CB on the other side... just a thought in the back of my mind right now
*** Sunseri may get subbed by HaHa or Landon more often. Awesome player, awesome instincts, but you can't teach speed.

    And 2 side notes:
*** Herby was on point in his analysis tonight and not just because he was talking us up. His description of what our D-line's and LB's jobs, his knowledge of our players... I was very impressed

*** The true test is still Arky as Denard doesn't exactly test our DB's. If we hold up against the pass against Arky, then I'll start looking into ticket prices for... you know...

I just don't see Arky as our "test", their passing routes are usually 10-14 yards and our defense is entirely to quick, and will hit/flush the qb before their routes have time to develop. We will stop their running game and beat them for the 6th year in a row IMO.

I wonder if their has ever been thoughts of moving Sunseri to LB in passing situations and opening up another safety spot for Landon or Eddie W. I think Sunseri could definitely hold his own at OLB.

When we play Arky, the secondary won't have to cover for so long because we will put more pressure on the qb. Without the threat of the qb running, It's a different ball game.

^^^^This. We will put reassure on the QB In that game.

  • No doubt not only Arky but UT also presents us with a legit threat in the passing game. Actually given the competition each played. I might be more worried about UT.

I guess what I mean by that: After tonights game, we know that we have a stout D. We know that we're still going to stuff the run. But I can't think of another passing threat that will be a whole lot better than Arky's... maybe UT? I just want to see pass after pass from a good QB to good WR's and see how our DB's respond. I have no doubt we'll be very good, but I'm really curious to see how the new guys compare to last year??

    VegasTide

  • You got to put our offensive line in there for being awesome. They were blowing holes in the D-line like they were a division II team. And that may be more important than anything else.

I think Vinnie was caught in no man's land a lot of times. He had some good hits, but seemed to hesitate on his blitz ... probably out of respect of their QB and fear of Saban if he got burnt on a scramble. It was hard to tell, but I don't think the long completions were all his fault.

  • UT's D does not scare me. Also NC St didn't exactly have a top notch D

*** McCarron best talent at QB Alabama has had in ...

*** Fowler was a big surprise. His pad level was better than I remember. He is going to have a big year.

*** Yeldon is very special. Understatement.

*** Milliner made a lot of money tonight.

*** Mosely was Mosely. Time for America to realize how special he is.

*** Jesse Williams had a not so good night.

I agree about Milliner. He is a top 10 pick now.
