Here are some stats:
Record 9-10
Outscored to 535 to 431 (28.16 to 22.68 per game)
Times scoring less than 20 points - 10
Times giving up for than 35 points to an opponent - 7
Losses by 14 or more - 8
Losses by 21 or more - 5
Loses by 28 or more - 3I know there are people who have been around a lot longer than me, so I wanted to ask. Has there every been a worse team in the history of football the next year and a half after winning a national championship?

Someone looked into that statistic not too long ago. I believe Penn State and Ga Tech had the worst records two years after winning a college football national title. The Nittany Lions won it all in 1986, and fell to 5-6 in 1988. The Yellow Jackets won the UPI (Coaches) Poll in 1990, and also fell to 5-6 two years later. I cannot remember another team faring worse two years removed from a national title...until now. I suspect Auburn will claim this dubious record and control it with a vise like grip that will not be released in your lifetime.
