Nash was a legit MVP player last year. People forget how valuable his assist are.. Also forget he can shoot a little bit too.

Jason Kidd is probably going to get the same kind of contract whether he ends up with the free-spending Nets or stays with the Mavs. Both don't score alot, but both are gamers. Kidd is probably the less effective on the offensive end while Nash, even as an MVP, can't guard any NBA point guard.

White, purple or green...Nash can still play at 38. Because his team wasn't on the radar people gloss over the fact he had a stellar season. Kobe has 2-3 more years playing at his current level. You make the moves you can to get a title while he is still playing at his all time level. Its a great move.

Not to mention as someone else said...NBA draft picks for the most part aren't very valuable especially outside the lottery.

Also the basketball hall of fame is sort of the ugly step child of the the NFL and MLB.

And Nash by himself doesn't mean the Lakers are going to win it all. It helps, it helps a ton because the PG play has been beyond horrible the past 3 years. They need bench help and more specifically they need some outside shooters. If they get that, then get out of the way.
