As anyone had Direct tv and if so does it still go out in bad weather? Thanks for the help in advance.
Heavy downpours will knock it out but usually back up pretty quick.
Yes, at my farm, I have it.
And yes, in very bad weather, it can still go out.
But it doesn't happen for long, usually.
It's out right now as a matter of fact.
Yes it goes out occasionally, but I learned a trick from some of the posters on here. The standard definition channels hang in there better than the high definition channels (the high def channels require more bandwidth to transmit a picture). So when bad weather comes, switch to the standard def version for the channel you want to watch (most of the high def channels also broadcast alongside their standard def counterparts). Usually the outages are brief, but of course they are annoying. Especially if it affects a Bama game.
I just switched from Directv to Uverse. I like it a lot better! It never goes out (unless the power goes) and it's about $60 per month less than I was paying for DTV and internet before (I have more channels too).
The app is sweet as well. I can control any receiver in the house and record shows from my phone. I can even watch some shows on my phone too. It records up to four shows at once and i can watch them in any room. Finally, two of my recievers are wireless, so, I can move them anywhere in the house (or outside of it for that matter) and don't have to worry about a jack being nearby.
Sorry for sounding like a commercial, but after being with DTV for eight years, I like this much better.

So glad I saw your post acp. I'm going to be moving in a couple weeks, and I need to do some changing to save money. My DTV cost around $90-$100 a month by itself, and my internet is another $70-$80 a month. It's just too much money.
I was thinking of switching to Dish, to at least get that 1 year where everything is cheaper, but I'm gonna look into this now. Uverse isn't quite as popular as the others, so I didn't really consider it until now.
edit - Just checked it out, and it's not available at my new address. That's what I get for living in the country.
