Big drug bust on campus

I think most people, including myself, are bitching about the use of limited police resources in this way. There are a myriad of crimes being committed in West Alabama that would be a better use of all the money and hours that went into this marijuana investigation. It's all about prioritizing, and in this case, we're saying the TPD's priorities are way out of whack. And I neither smoke nor deal, so please don't make that same generalization about me.

So, this is the only thing the TPD has been working on lately? Do you have intel into the TPD? How do you know that there are not multiple areas of concern that the TPD are working on but they are just waiting on the right time to make a move?

But why is it illegal? And upon answering why, should it remain illegal?

I'm gonna assume he has no idea why marijuana was criminalized.

Do I need to pull out the crayons and draw pictures for you to even understand your own argument?

However, we do agree on the state being absolute sh!t in almost everything...

Draw yourself a picture. You clearly don't have a clue.

You are most definitely a simpleton. You don't have to be a user or a seller to see that the war on drugs is a massive failure and massive waste of tax dollars. You assume that anyone that is outspoken is a user, which is beyond idiotic.

Outspoken is one thing but you are raging dude. Maybe you should go roll a blunt and relax a bit man. Then come back and we can talk without all the anger.

What you are really saying is that people who do not agree with your social views are inherently bumbling idiots. Additionally, those idiotic views are leading to a generation of children becoming bumbling idiots. Therefore, since you deem smoking weed to be legal, and moderate use would/should not have long term harmful affects, there is no reason to tell your children not to intentionally inhale smoke from cannabis into their lungs. Like I said, please continue...

I wouldn't say your a bumbling idiot. I might say a sheep or a lemming, but not a bumbling idiot. A lot of people want small government, and for the government to stay out of their business in their home. Same thing here.

I wouldn't push it on anyone. I actually kinda prefer sating girls that don't smoke or only on special occasions. You want the government to stay out of your business, well me too.

I can tell you've never had a political/social conversation with me; I'm not a fox news'er in the least. However, i laugh at people who try to establish intellectual authority but cannot understand their own arguments.

  • Listen, some of you are really confused with how life works.

Marijuana is illegal. In Alabama, anything that is illegal is also immoral.

Ergo, if paperclips became illegal tomorrow, everybody who was arrested in a paperclip sting would be a bad person who got what the deserved - PLAIN AND SIMPLE.

Life is too short to question these things, all right?

  • Just to be clear, the arrests were the result of informants *purchasing* from the arrested individuals. Specifically, as stated in the press release, these arrests "were mostly centered on the sale and possession of marijuana." In other words, the charges were either for selling marijuana, or for possessing it (probably in large quantities). Only 26 of the 74 arrested were students, per the CW, again suggesting this wasn't aimed at students. Until proven otherwise, we should assume this was a sting aimed at bringing down the network of drug dealers and traffickers, not one aimed at going after the 18 year old who smoked an ounce of weed.

Our views on whether the 18-20 yr old casual smoker being the subject of a sting are likely irrelevant here. Since they "used individuals known as confidential informants to go in and make purchases for us" from the people arrested, they were all dealers at some level. And since they were dealers, that's why the police busted down doors (they couldn't give them a chance to be informed so as to hide drugs, escape, or prepare to violently defend themselves).

    74 individuals arrested; 183 charges.

Agents had been working on this for months, most of the arrest for selling pot. Also made arrests involving cocaine, ecstasy, LSD

Don't be obtuse. You know that's not remotely what I'm arguing. It's not the only area they've been working on. But for a "months-long investigation" to net a bunch of weed smokers is a tremendous waste when that same "months-long investigation" could have been focused on pills, coke, meth. Hundreds of warrants? Yeah, that cost a lot of time and money. For what? "Drug paraphernalia".
