This is for people that travel a lot. What are the best websites to use to book flights to places? I'm thinking of flying from Atlanta to West Palm Beach for the game and I would like some recommendations. TIA!
This site may be a bad experience for some but I can only tell you my experience...
I have only flown once in my life, and as it was a group trip, I did none of the planning/purchasing.
I decided back in mid-October to take a trip to NYC this week. So, really booking it 1) not early enough to lock into a great price, 2) during a terrible travel season, and 3) needing specific dates.
I looked at all sorts of websites (almost 30) and Orbitz had the best deal for me. Roundtrip via an airline I could trust on the dates I needed for almost $100 less than other sites.
IMO, it was extremely easy, very secure, and no hassle. Added bonus: I had a good seat selection this late in the game. (As of Saturday, the plane is now almost full.)
So, I know I am not a frequent traveler and, for all I know, am recommending a site most hate. But it was a great experience for a novice like me.
I have used Orbitz many times & I have no complaints.
Just as a heads up because I've been looking every day..the flights into any of the 3 airports (West Palm, Fort Lauderdale or Miami) seem to all be running around $500+ per person plus hotel plus rental car, etc. When thinking about that much money plus I don't even have tickets yet for the game, I started looking at nearby cities. I think I'm going to book the trip below this week...
Fly into Orlando on Jan 4th
Stay 3 nights (Friday, Sat, Sun & check out Mon) at Disney World...they offer a free shuttle from the airport
Visit the parks on Sat & Sun
Mon morning take a charter bus ($95/round trip per person) from Orlando to Sun Life Stadium
After game, charter bus back and you get to Orlando around 4:30am. Take a cab straight to the airport for a 7:30am flight
Total for everything except park tickets and game tickets ($450/person)...this will vary based on which Disney hotel you stay in as well. Good luck!
Depending on how early you book you can go straight to Delta's website and get as low a rate as sites like Orbitz, Kayak or Priceline. I travel frequently and haven't noticed a great deal of price difference if you're able to book more than 2 weeks in advance. JMO.
If you're doing it last minute, probably Orbitz.
