Just wondering if anyone is seeing any heavy rutting activity/chasing yet in south Alabama. Im about an hour north of Mobile and havent seen a whole lot but you can tell its getting that time!
Roll Tide Roll!!!
the weather has not been very favorable for an early rut this year. haven't seen much sign. also about an hour north of mobile. They need to take 2 weeks off the beginning of deer season and add it in February.

Look for that to happen next year, a friend of mine in the House tried to get the law passed last year but didn't have enough votes. He told me that it will pass this year. There may be some test area's to start and see how it works for the first year. Covington County will be one I am assured.

Not much going on in Choctaw Co. Seen couple small bucks chasing does but not hard.
I hope you're right. Deer are usually not in full rut until February. The end of deer season has never stopped me from hunting in February but I do hunt private land. lol
Saw 2 different bucks the last two days sniffing and following but not really chasing different does. Got me excited though. I hunt in southern part of Tallapoosa county. will be leaving shortly to hunt this afternoon.
Well the NAZI mods flushed this to the cooler. Should have mentioned Atlanta Braves in the original post IMO
Yea its been a little better than last year but still not great. Looking good for the next 10 days though. Should get em moving! I wouldnt mind just adding the 2 weeks. But im sure they will cut in order to add. I also wish they would end dog season at the end of December in order to let things settle back down in the woods before the rut gets started.
I understand your position on this, but I wish dog season would stay open the whole time. If I have enough private land to dog hunt on, I shouldn't be forced to stalk hunt. Just my 2 cents.
Yea everyone is different on that. Some want it completely done away with and others would like it extended. Thats why I would say just end it on Dec. 31. And most people dont have enough private land to do it on though. But some do. I just like to stalk hunt only during the month of January.
I get bored stalk hunting. Nothing like the adreline rush when those dogs are running towards ya.
Seen quite a bit of hooking and scraps at my camp a few miles outside of Monroeville. But haven't seen many bucks though. They seem to be running at night but hopefully one will make a mistake this weekend.
I hear ya and that's why I like turkey hunting so much more, but there's really not a whole lot of sport in running dogs.
What do you think it will be like around the jasper area next weekend. I hunt on private land and curious what the Rut has been like in that area.
Finally seeing some action. Saw a couple small rack bucks running does in a big field late yesterday evening. Also saw 2 before 4:30. One was a big shooter buck but I wasn't able to get a shot on him.
Where were you? What part of the state.
Killed this one this past Thursday. Came in late evening in a big green field running does. Finally got him to stop long enough to get a shot. Seen several small bucks chasing and just moving more in general. Really hope to get the season extended down this way next year.
