run around on pricing. Of the 2 above, which do you guys reccommend, and why? I want NFL Network, Golf Channel, local sports channels, plus some good movie channels. Can you guys share experiences and costs? I need HD on 3-4 tvs.
Thanks in advance!
I've never had Dish but I've had Charter and currently have Directv. I'll never go back. DTV is great and you can get almost anything. The only channel I miss is CSS, which is cable proprietary (but all they show is Bama losses anyway).
Go with dish. Directv literally screwed me out of 200 dollars after they charged my debit card for my dad's service after he passed away, then instead of refunding my money like they promised, they sent me a check for 50 dollars after 2 months of calling them every day and having to re-explain what had happened because apparently no one there takes notes of the calls they have received, and hearing a different story from them every day. One of their managers hung up on my wife when she called. Now they tell me I owe them 500 dollars because i cancelled my service with them after all of this happened. Go with Dish
Get either UVerse or Directv...Dish is the worst there is and I've tried them all. You'll thank us later.

I assure you, oro's case is the exception and not the rule. Their CS has been GREAT with our entire family, and we've put my dad, my MIL, my BIL, my nephews and my brothers onto DTV.
The actual PICTURE quality and the product from DTV is much much better than what Dish has to offer.
THIS X 10000000000 Dish is AWFUL
Dish is no better. Both have good programming. Both overcharge. Neither give a ----- about customer service. I finally changed to Comcast. Now I really get screwed b-u-t I do get to watch our loss games over and over on CSS. I lost over $200 dollars with Dish after I had finally had it!

I will say this, I did enjoy directv until this happened, and the whole reason i had gotten directv was because my dad really liked their service too. And mine was a unique circumstance and wouldn't happen to everyone. Hopefully if you decide to get them, you won't have a complicated situation because they didn't handle mine very well. The main thing that upset me was they refused to waive the cancellation fee or refund the original money they withdrew out of my bank. Even though they said that they did not blame me for wanting to cancel and would do the same if they were me AND saying that they would do both of those things.
Agree. I've always had great customer service with DTV.
I would say go with DTV. I have been a customer for a few years now and have really liked it. Granted it is pretty easy to beat Comcast, which is what I had before.

Dish. I'm new to it but have really enjoyed all the HD channels and features.
I think UVerse and DirectTV are the only way to go now.
DTV or Uverse. Dish is poor mans satellite compared to DTV. If you like sports, DTV has you covered and has mix channels that give you multiple options.
Cancelled dtv about 6 months ago. My dish bill is half of dtv and I get the same stuff. My 2 cents.
15 National Championships, 23 SEC Championships, NCAA Record 60 Postseason Bowl Appearances, NCAA Record 35 Bowl Victories
Directv is incredible. I had uverse which was good but nothing compares with direct. Have family members that had dish and switched after seeing directv. Dish sucks and is for poors.
I switched from DTV to Dish a few years ago for the lower price. Outside of the NFL Sunday ticket, the two are comparable in features, but Dish is much cheaper for me. One dish feature that I really like is their sling adapter. Dish purchased sling media, the makers of the slingbox, several years ago and developed a sling adapter that plugs into their newer receivers. They are $99, or $50 used on ebay, and you can watch your TV anywhere on your phone. Convenient for watching football games and such while out and about, and especially convenient when you need to drop a deuce during a live football game. I just bring it up on my phone and take my time.
Im thinking about switching to Dish? Currently have DTV - Is that quality not as good?
Quality is much worse and their "HD" is not up to par with DTV HD. Much better. and many more options...
The dish channel lineup is hard as crap to learn also
Direct...I have charter now and I'm miserable. Direct absolutely spoiled me.
"Never argue with an idiot. They will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience"
I like dish. Superb customer service and support over directv, and they don't subcontract out to local "dish" techs who are usually crooks.
The hopper is great and since dish owns sling, you can buy a $20 adapter and have a scaled down sling box for tv on the go. Watched nfl games on the way back from Mizzou and watched AU lose the morning of the Tennessee game on the iPad. And I didn't have to drop several hundred dollars to do so.
