Fishing can be considered a "sport" right??
Wondering if anyone on the board fishes for Pompano in the Panhandle, and if you could provide some pointers. Thinking about trying it this year. TIA..
Most definitely a sport. Tournament fishing is grueling and deep sea fishing is exhausting. Now sitting on the pier caching bream might not be though lol.
No experience with pompano though.

I wish I pompano fished more, but they run the same time as cobia, so I never get a chance.
Do you have surf fishing gear? Rods, stakes, etc.? You would certainly have more luck as a beginner setting a few rods with bait rather than walking the beach sight casting with pompano jigs.
Check out the surf fishing board on Pensacola Fishing Forum. There should be lots of great info there.
Edit: And yes, fishing, especially tournament fishing, can definitely be considered a sport.
