Looking for a casual local seafood joint? I've eaten at a couple of the bigger mainstream places. I'm wanting something more local. TIA
The Back Porch is my favorite

There's a Chuck's there. The T-town one is very popular, and it also has a sushi bar.

EDIT: I am sorry. That returaunt is in Gulf Shores. I misread. Check it out when you are there.

The Back Porch is amazing, also the Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. there is great too
Dewey Destin. Go over the bridge at the mouth of the harbor. First left then it's a couple roads down on your left. That's the little hole in the wall shack. For a little nicer go to the one a little further down the main strip. It's close to AJays (I think). It's the best seafood place in town. Your welcome
By the way they are both Dewey Destins. Only about a half mile apart. The second on is on the harbor if that helps

Thanks for the suggestions. Sounds like I'm going to The Back Porch and Dewey Destins. Thanks
Can't go wrong with either one of those. The chuck's in Destin is actually called Harbor Docks so you won't find it under Chuck's like in Tuscaloosa and Birmingham. Also, if you feel like going down to the 30A area you can't go wrong with Louis-Louis, The Red Bar, or Stinky's Fish Camp.
Back Porch, dewey destin, Aj's, capt daves.
Mitchell's Fish Market- In SanDestin and is one of the best places for seasfodd in the entire Panhandle IMO. Try the Hoisin Glazed Yellowfin Tuna
Bayou Bills- It's East of SanDestin in Santa Rosa Beach on 98. Try the Grouper Orleans or Crab Feast
The best crab legs and shrimp I've eaten in Destin/Ft Walton area has been at Old Bay Steamer. It's a restaurant with a bar but still great for families. It is a MUST if you go down there.
Dewey Destin, and if you don't mind paying a little then hit Marina Cafe and maybe Old Bay steamer in Fort Walton. Marina Cafe is ridiculously good but also very expensive. The Back Porch is red lobster with a good view, the only things worth eating there are the smoked tuna dip and orange cake. That place is very overrated, no idea why anyone wants to go there.
Harbordocks for me. Freshest sushi I've ever had and great fish. Good drinks too.
I disagree completely, their mahi-mahi is amazing as is most of their menu. The Back Porch is 20x better than Red Lobster
Buster's Oyster House in the strip mail where the "old" Bruno's use to be. It's across the street from all the Silver Dollar outlet shops. They don't get any more local than Buster's in my opinion.
My vote is Dewey's or Old Bay Steamer. Poster above is right, Old Bay has the best crab legs in the area.
In Destin, I can only think of the bigger mainstream places. Ft. Walton or San Destin may offer something smaller or more local.
Magnolia Grill in Ft. Walton which is maybe 10 miles away. It's a house built in 1910. Menu is seafood dishes and then Italian. It is casual but they do put down white table cloths. Pricing Menu is probably comparable to Back Porch. Not a place to get sloshed in but it's something kinda different. The Hightide in Ft. Walton is either hit or miss, but still good fried seafood which you could throw a few back and you can stroll in with a ripped t-shirt, flip flop, and nuthuggers if you wanted to. Also, their was a new house restaurant on the beach in Ft. Walton next to Captain Dave's or around there. That place was flippin' awesome last time I went and right on the beach.
Destin, I still go with Back Porch #1, AJ's #2. At one time the Lighthouse was solid but we quit going there after they kept jacking their prices and the food kept getting worse. It may not even be open anymore.
