So, first time poster here. I'm getting a new shotgun in the next month...celebration gift for finishing my professional training and of course Christmas. I have no need for a gun that can shoot a 3.5" shell, thus I'm mainly looking at Browning Maxus 3" vs Benelli M2. I considered Benelli Vinci, but don't like the safety position. I'll be using it mainly for quail, dove, sporting clays, and occasional duck. What are your thoughts, recommendations, pros/cons?
I like Berreta's. I have a Beretta A400 xplor in Walnut. Great gun.
Vince Lombardi was asked how it felt to have the best football team in the world. He replied, I don't know. We haven't played Alabama yet.
I am a Berreta man. I have a AL 390 all black and have taken it duck, pheasant, and turkey hunting and never had a problem. While in South Dakota during the dead of winter I never have a problem ejecting the shell.
I bought a gun this spring for basically the same thing your looking to do. I got a Browning Maxus 12 gauge. Put 100 cheap shells thru it shooting skeet with no issues the day I bought it. I bought it at Lawson's in Loretto TN. They sell Browning & Benelli, of course both are excellent guns, two of the guys working there said they owned the Maxus. I think it is also little cheaper. Can't go wrong with either.
As a first time poster, I recommend posting off-topic threads to the off-topic forum. This forum is not for random, non-sports topics.
Baretta Urika 2 w/o the kickoff has less recoil than the M2 w/ comfortTech, The Expor listed above IMO is the best you can buy. Might be the perfect shotgun
Seriously? I don't recall you jumping on Travis about the American Horror Posts or the various posts asking for prayer (which I don't mind at all), but you choose to play Message Board Police on this guy? Meanwhile, I'd say the post is a "sports topic"...last I checked shooting sports of various disciplines, including skeet, are Olympic Sports therefore making this a sports topic. You were a prick on the other board and I see it carried over to this one as well.
Back to the OP...if you are willing to look outside of Semi Autos and want to go for a "cut above", I highly recommend a Beretta Silver Pigeon. I didn't think I was going to be a fan of an Over/Under but its the best quail, dove, skeet gun I own. Mine is a 20guage, and my shoulder usually appreciates the lighter recoil after a day of dove/quail hunting, its light weight and carrying the barrell "broken" over your shoulder when walking is very ergonomical. However, I would not take this gun into flooded timber or a muddy blind busting green heads. I own the Beretta A390 12guage, which is primarily my duck/turkey gun, but used it for quail & dove too. I own 7 shotguns and asking which is my favorite would be like asking me which of my unborn children will be my favorite..
There all good, I would practice mounting them in the store, see which one fits the best, they will all fit differently. Benellis fit me well, Berrettas not so much. (awesome gun though) one size does not fit all. Good luck and good hunting
Dick just stick to being the grammer police. You can start here.
I have had a Benelli Super Black Eagle for some 13 or 14 years now...awesome gun, I treat it bad and it never jams....even though you don't need the 3.5 now, that may change in time....buy it now and you will never need to buy another shotgun, unless you just want to!
Beretta or Browning both excellent
I would strongly suggest a 20 gauge. Benelli M2 or Beretta urika would be my suggestion.
