As I'm sure you're all aware, today marks the birthdays of 2 of the greatest thinkers of the post-Enlightenment period: Charles Darwin, the father of evolution, and Abraham Lincoln, the Great Emancipator. Just wanted to remind everyone to thank their lucky stars that history produced 2 such extraordinary men.

And there it is, the religious debate. I just wanted a thread where we could unite and show appreciation for two forward-thinkers who helped progress scientific, political, and moral thought well beyond their day and age. No need to interject venom into it, rollmonkey.

Not the point of this thread, but do people truly believe that evolution proponents rely on faith as much as creationists? I'm not making a claim either way, but only one theory is supported by verifiable scientific evidence. Microevolution has been observed. Macroevolution has not. Not because it's not true, but because the scope of time needed to observe it is out of our reach right now. But the fundamental science is the same for micro and macro evolution. Look up the Equidae family.

I have never seen a birthday thread stay on the RT unless it was Sabans or Bryant. This does need to be moved. I'm agnostic so its not even a religious thing its the fact that it doesn't belong here.
