How fast is your internet?

  • Just asking bc I recently realized I wasn't getting the speed I was paying for. When I tested my speed it was less than 2 mbps, after getting it resolved I've been around 13-14 mbps. After testing it again, the speed was much better, but the site said around 80% of internet users had a faster connection. Just curious to see what most people here are running.

Below is the link to the test I used.

  • I'm strictly VZW 4G now, so 8-12 Mbps down and 1-4 Mbps up. I'm fighting with AT&T right now because I signed up for their DSL and only got 0.8 Mpbs download. When i canceled after the first month, they tacked on a $90 early termination fee that I refused to pay. Now some Bay Area collection company calls me twice a day begging me to pay.

  • I've got Xfinity Blast! internet package and I get 23-26 mbps down and 4-4.5 mbps up. At 12-15 mbps down and 2-3 mbps up you are on par with the Xfinity Performance package... The guy at 50 probably has the Extreme 50 or something similar... Generally you get what you pay for unless what you are using to access the internet has issues.

  • Services offered by your cable companies usually is the best way to go in terms of residential usage. Most services offer packages up to the 40-50mbps range. I have Road Runner Turbo which is 20/2 but they offer Road Runner Lightning in metro areas which is like 40/4 I think.

Ive actually visited a business recently that had a dedicated OC12 put in. Unreal speeds. It gets around 600-650mbps. It also cost a small fortune a month to have it, but with a couple hundred PC's they need it.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. It's just that yours is stupid.

  • I plan on getting only internet when I move to ATL in the fall so I'll be investing in the fastest possible internet when I do. Anyone in the ATL area recommend the fastest and most affordable?
