KONY 2012

  • I hope you will allow this to be pinned staff. KONY 2012 is a effort by the Invisible Children to aid in the capture of Joseph Kony, the Leader of the LRA. They are a group that abducts young African children and forces them to kill, mutilate, and destroy the children's parents, families, and communities. I am linking a movie everyone should watch and a place to donate or order kits to help the movement.

Remember: There are many things more important than football.

  • Just watched the YouTube and it was very moving, a fantastic idea by this young man. Hope this Kony guy is taken care of soon.

  • It is a pretty moving documentary but some of you might want to read the attached link as well. I haven't had time to do the research (I'm at work) but this orginzation sounds shady as well. I still think Kony needs to be taken care of but so does a lot of other rebel/militia leaders.

  • To everyone posting the video on Joseph Kony, please be aware that the video and site sends money to a rival military leader guilty of rape and murder. They want to get rid of Kony so they can be him. Joseph Kony has been using children since the mid '80s. And has been well publicized

  • I haven't sent money and probably dont plan to, however. I will make his name as publisized as I can. I don't understand the ideas of those who oppose this movement because they want to raise awareness of the own issues our country has. I understand that rape and murder happen in our own country, but there is not central figure head to oppose. Raising awareness about Kony raises support to oppose a man who heads a specific organization in a country that can't fight for itself. I don't support going out and taking out every "bad" man around the world. I don't support sending a milliont troops to Uganda and finding him either. I do support raising awareness about this man in hopes that countries around the world can send small forces to Uganda to help train troops there to find Kony. Just because we can't see or imagine what is happening over there, doesn't mean we should ignore it. Killing Kony may change nothing, but who knows. This world is too damn complicated.

  • I support helping the children and citizens of Uganda. I support ousting horrible men like Kony. I support doing the right thing for those in need.

I do not, however, support the shady business dealings of Invisible Children.

  • Blows my mind that people can do stuff like that to children, Or to anyone period.

    bamail

  • it amazes me how ignorant we have become these days. we have known about guerrilla warfare forcing children into armies in africa for a while. there have been movies made about this stuff for a while.

not to mention, if you blindly donate to invisible children without doing non-biased research into this situation, you are a fool.

so until the kony 2012 campaign you never heard of children armies in africa? might want to crawl out from under that rock you live.

we have known for decades about these types of conflicts in africa. hell there are even blockbuster hits about this. it was a sheep herd movement on facebook by the uniformed.

o and btw...president obama already signed legislation to help stop this guy. it didn't take a facebook profile pic or stupid posters to get that done. the informed are already informed. they don't need the "sheep" to bring to light global issues.
