Has he stuck to his no-salary-until-full-employment pledge? I remember him campaigning about it but I never followed up on it.
During his 2010 campaign for governor, Bentley promised not to accept a salary until the state's unemployment rate falls to 5.2 percent (considered full employment). Alabama's jobless rate stood at 8.5 percent in August - down from 9.3 percent when Bentley took office.
State finance records show the governor has kept his word and not drawn a salary. However, he was reimbursed $4,998 this year related to out-of-state travel, lodging and meals.
The Huntsville Times, Birmingham News and Mobile Press-Register spent the past six weeks gathering current annual salary data for hundreds of your employees - people who work for Alabama's cities and counties, as well as state government.
Sounds like a respectable guy...
Let's be honest, Bentley was very wealthy to begin with, but I do respect him for keeping his campaign promise.
I agree with that. He seems out of touch with reality on some things but I admire the no salary part
On Alabama: CeCe Jefferson - "It was a bunch of beautiful women..." Reggie Ragland - "oh the females of course..."
