OT:Looking for IT job in Birmingham area

I know this is off topic and likely moved or deleted but I am trying to relocate to the Birmingham area and looking for a job in IT. I have 5 years experience in IT systems management and would appreciate any tips or contacts that might be of assistance in the Birmingham area. To bring this around full circle since this is an Alabama board one of the reasons I want to relocate back to Birmingham is so I can attend more Alabama games.

Heck as bad as the economy is right now we may just need a whole board devoted to Job hunts. I am looking for a job as well lol. I have a finance/accounting education but no experience. The lack of experience is really screwing me right now lol.

working in central FL at present, can't really re-locate without having something lined up on the other end; that seems to be my holdup. Finding a company willing to work with someone re-locating is hard to do.

I'm in programming, and this is the most wide open job market I've seen in my career. We've given up looking for qualified senior people. They are either in short supply, or afraid to change jobs in this economy.

I wish I knew more programming. All of my experience is in systems/IT management working with mostly maintenance and troubleshooting of PC's/servers so I wonder sometimes if my skill set translates well to other companies. I work for a non-profit here in FL and the jack of all trades type works well here but getting a better job usually means specializing in one area and that holds me back sometimes I believe.

I wanted to say a special thanks to everyone who commented in this thread or who PM'ed me regarding a possible employment position. I am confident something will work out and I look forward to meeting some of you at Alabama games in the future. Also, thank you moderators for allowing this post to stay on the Round Table for as long as it did. Without your discretion and tolerance of this non Alabama sports related post I would not have made this many solid connections. Help like this is what makes BOL so special and I am honored to be a part of such a special online community of fellow Alabama fans.

Not to hijack your thread but I was recently laid off and am looking for work. I have a BA but its a liberal arts degree (yeah big mistake). I'd like a job in the political/government arena.
