Seriously. Compare the results after their first three years. Saban had a national title. Obama has excuses.

No, that's just an Obama fan's attempt to push anything he can to make the argument that Obama isn't the worst president ever. No one will be able to make that argument in a few years. He will prove beyond any doubt that no president has ever been worse.

Nope, it is about policy...and Romney is slinging the same deregulation, tax break for people who make money off-shore policy that put this country in this mess. Guys like McCain and Romney used to be good statesmen until they were changed by the new Republican Party. I will admit that none of the choices are good, but what those that pull the strings for the Repubs are doing to this country is the highest form of treason, and is an attack on humanity. I have no problem giving tax incentives and capital gains to those who create jobs and opportunities for Americans, but we cannot continue to punish the middle class in favor of people who do not care about them. All that will do is destroy the middle class, destroy the country, and signal to those that made all the money to move on to their retirement location of choice. All Obama is trying to do is see that taxes go back to Reagan's policies, but then again, even he is too liberal for this Republican party.

Stopped reading at "capital gains," because I'm pretty sure you don't know what that means.

Haha. He should probably Google that term before using it again. You can't take an economic rant seriously when the person doesn't even understand the basics.

  • Budgets are made by Congress people and the truth is both parties are just playing everybody. The reason why our deficit is what's its been since 2000 is because both parties get what they want. GOP gets low tax rates, high defense spending and Dems get high spending on discretionary and entitlements. They both keep talking the same censored over and over, back and forth, but they are both funded by the same thousand people or so who fund 85% of all campaign donations. It's not one person like Obama that is to blame. It's the two-party system that has completely ruined our country. So, I can't wait until January 2013 because it doesn't matter who gets elected where, the deck chairs just keep getting reshuffled.

I was riffing on your Anti-Two Party silliness. The people get the government they want. If they wanted a 3rd, 4th, or 5th option, they'd get it.

The only racist I see in this thread is you for throwing a percentage out there like that. 90% of the south hates Obama because he is black??? Lol, the one thing you can not argue on is that this president has not united us as a country but divided us on race issues. By the way, I bet I could "repair" the economy by throwing 5 trillion dollars into it the only problem, he killed it for your grand children.

You've got it wrong. Mike Shula was stability for our program when we needed it most. He was a son that came home to help out his parents in a time of need. This job was too big for him, but I'm thankful every day for Mike Shula and what he has done for Alabama football. We all saw the look on his face during the Auburn game. We all saw him hiding behind his players on the sidelines in the closing moments. But he is one of us. But we shouldn't turn our backs on one of our own.

  • Its not about who who holds the Presidency, it is about who holds power. There are 3 groups that impact and make policy, The house, the Senate and the President. Hold 2 of 3 then your in power.

From 1995-2001 Republicans held the House and the Senate, Democrats the White House
GDP growth 38.6% Deficit growth 68%

From 2001 to 2007 Republicans held all 3
GDP growth 39.8% Deficit growth 51%

From 2007 to present the Democrats have at all times controlled at least 2/3rd with a 2 year window of 100%
GDP growth 19.8% Deficit growth 100.01%

So since it is about who controls the majority, don't ask if you are better off then your were 4 years ago, ask if you are better off than 6 years ago when party power control changed. If you notice all the above charts show the slide starting well after the Democrates too the House and Senate but they blame the minority for the problem even though they were in charge and still do 5 years later.

And cskey, with all due respect my Bama brother (or sister), ever metrix used to mesure the economy all agree that this has been the slowest recovery coming out of a recession since WWII and that the results would have been similar if the federal government would have done nothing past TARP. And yes, I am a practicing economist in Washington DC and not I don't work for one party or another.

Cone Cone, you are my Bama brother what every skin tones we may all have. Its ok to disagree as families often do, but there is no need to shout or lay down claims that someones comments are racially motivated, poeple stop listening when we are trying to make a point and do that. I am more than happy to listen to your opinion or your point of view up to a point where someone is perosnally attacked. Your better than that and I look forward to hearing your opinion on the matter when it involves a good strong arugment based on factual data.

  • This thread proves one thing. Most people blindly see their side of the argument.

I do not like Obama. I did not like Bush, Jr. Bush, Jr. created a mess, and Obama has only added to the mess. Both sides play to their constituency, and rarely really consider what is long term best for the country. Clinton was a scumbag morally, but actually a "good" president in terms of the overall status of the country. It is a fact that when Clinton left office, the budget was in the black and we were not in any wars. I'm sure those who only one side will argue Clinton and his policies had nothing to do with it, but it is a fact. Similarly, Nixon was actually a "very good" president in terms of what happened to the country, but unfortunately was involved in covering up illegal activity (Watergate). The economy made progress under Nixon, he opened up trade with other countries, and he got us out of a bad war. Again, those who see only one side will argue against the good things accomplished by Nixon.

It does bother me that people use terms like "idiot" to describe either Obama or Bush. I may not like their policies, etc. and think they make poor decisions and are beholding to the wrong people, but they are more educated and probably have higher IQs than the people labeling them that way, and neither Obama nor Bush are "idiots". I hate the lack of civility in politics. Great role models for our kids to see our politicians bicker, call each other names, and basically act like kids who do not get their way.

It is our fault as voters. We elect "politicians" and not "leaders". Think about it, is Romney or Obama either one even close to the "best and brightest" this country has to offer to lead this country? If so, God help us down the road.
