Harvey Updyke turned down a plea offer from prosecutors that would have required him to spend 13 years in prison and never attend a Crimson Tide sporting event for the rest of his life, a source close to the case told ESPN.com on Friday.

13 years for poisoning trees is absolutely ridiculous as a plea offer. I am so sick of hearing about those trees -- I wish they would hurry up and die so everybody could move on. It is sad that Updyke would have been better off killing an Auburn fan than killing their trees.

I just posted this too. Im I the only one that thinks he should fight this thing to the end? 13 years and lifetime ban from Bama sports?? Having just won our 14th NC, I would take exception to their terms of prison to be 13 years. You feel me? Wow, I could understand 13 month sentence and 1200 hours of community service, but 13 years?? And a lifetime ban from Alabama sports? GTOH!!
