Alabama finalizes 2013 schedule

TUSCALOOSA _ The University of Alabama announced that it has signed a two-game agreement for Colorado State to visit Bryant-Denny Stadium, with the first meeting set for Sept. 21, 2013.

Jim McElwain, who helped Alabama win two national titles, will bring Colorado State to Bryant-Denny Stadium in 2013.

The agreement completes Alabama's 2013 football schedule, and gives the Crimson Tide byes before its two biggest games, at Texas A&M on Sept. 14, and LSU on Nov. 9.

It’ll be the first meeting between the schools and put Nick Saban up against former Crimson Tide offensive coordinator Jim McElwain 2008-11), who went 4-8 his first season with the Rams.

"This will be a great opportunity for our program to go out and play the best," McElwain said in a statement. "The experience of playing Alabama in that environment will help our players and our program as it continues to grow, and we're looking forward to it. It is another outstanding example of what we're doing with our program in all aspects. When you come to play football at Colorado State you're going to get an opportunity not only to be the best, but to play against the best."

According to the Denver Post, CSU will receive $1.5 million for each game.

The second game in the series will take place on a date to be determined during either the 2015 or 2017 season.

The rest of the Crimson Tide’s schedule had already been announced, including a return to the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game at the Georgia Dome to face Virginia Tech.
