BOL's weekly power ranking of Alabama's 12 opponents for the 2012 season.
Whose team is in first place in the SEC West? This guy's.
1.] LSU (Baton Rouge, Nov. 3)
Last week's ranking: 1
One more non-conference beatdown before conference beatdowns commence in Auburn.
Up next: vs. Idaho (0-2), Saturday, 7 p.m. CT/PPV.
2.] Tennessee (Knoxville, Oct. 20)
Last week's ranking: 3
In games against its two biggest rivals, Florida and Alabama, Tennessee is riding a 12-game losing streak. If not this week, then when for the Vols?
Up next: vs. Florida (2-0), Saturday, 6 p.m. ET/ESPN.
3.] Michigan (Sept. 1: UA 41, UM 14)
Last week: 4
After slipping past Air Force, Wolverines host UMass team that has been outscored 92-6 in first two games.
Up next: vs. Massachusetts (0-2), Saturday, 3:30 p.m.ET/BTN.
4.] Arkansas (Fayetteville, Sept. 15)
Last week: 2
Hogs coming off catastrophic loss that will require upset win over the Crimson Tide this week to overcome. With quarterback Tyler Wilson dinged, now would be a good time to lean on running backs Knile Davis and Dennis Johnson.
Up next: vs. Alabama (2-0), Saturday, 2:30 p.m./CBS.
5.] Mississippi State (Tuscaloosa, Oct. 27)
Last week: 8
After defeating Auburn last week, MSU coach Dan Mullen took great joy in announcing that his team was in first place in the SEC West. Sort of like the Mariners chirping about being in first place in the AL West after winning on opening day. The best thing about this week's trip to Troy: Hook's Barbeque.
Up next: at Troy (1-1), Saturday, 6 p.m. CT/ESPN3.
6.] Texas A&M (Tuscaloosa, Nov. 10)
Last week: 6
Rousing start start to SEC opener turned to silence as Aggie offense fizzled in second half of loss to Florida. Dangerous non-conference road trip up next.
Up next: at SMU (1-1), Saturday, 2:30 p.m. CT/FSN.
7.] Missouri (Columbia, Oct. 13)
Last week: 6
Like A&M, Mizzou offense didn't show well when it mattered most against a good Georgia defense. Nice non-conference matchup this week before large meeting with South Carolina.
Up next: vs. Arizona State (2-0), Saturday, 6 p.m. CT/ESPN2.
8.] Auburn (Tuscaloosa, Nov. 24)
Last week: 7
Loss to upstart ULM this week would almost ensure 0-5 start for Tigers.
Up next: vs. Louisiana-Monroe (1-0), Saturday, 11:21 a.m. CT/SECN.
9.] Ole Miss (Tuscaloosa, Sept. 29)
Last week: 9
First 2-0 start for the Rebels in three years. At worst, Ole Miss will be 3-1 when it travels to Tuscaloosa on Sept. 29.
Up next: vs. Texas (2-0), Saturday, 8:15 p.m. CT/ESPN.
10.] Western Kentucky (Sept. 8: UA 35, WKU 0)
Last week: 10
Hilltoppers' plan was good, just didn't have the personnel needed to compete with the Crimson Tide. That won't be as much of a problem this week.
Up next: at Kentucky (1-1), Saturday, 7 p.m. ET/ESPNU.
11.] Florida Atlantic (Tuscaloosa, Sept. 22)
Last week: 11
After losing to a Middle Tennessee team that will struggle to win five games, consecutive road trips Georgia and Alabama await the Owls.
Up next: at Georgia (2-0), Saturday, 7:30 p.m. ET/CSS.
12.] Western Carolina (Tuscaloosa, Nov. 17)
Last week: 12
Catamounts, who gave up 615 total yards and 52 points in loss to Marshall last week, dive into Southern Conference play this week.
Up next: at Wofford (2-0), Saturday, 7 p.m. ET.
